ABOUT

REFLEXOLOGY

Reflexology has its roots in the ancient civilisations of Egypt, China and Africa. As we know it today, Reflexology was first researched and developed by Eunice Ingham. Her theory was that electrical impulses travel down the body, from the head to the feet, penetrating various organs and structures on the way. Reflexology is now a precisely defined form of treatment based on the principle that the anatomy of the body is reflected in miniature on reflex zones on the feet and the hands. By using specific techniques of holds and pressures on these areas, healing is encouraged in the corresponding area of the body. Each of my reflexology treatments is tailored to the individual, combining skills involving aromatherapy as in AromaReflexology (using essential oils), Mindful Reflexology using visualisation techniques or Spinal Reflexology which is very powerful to resolve structural issues affecting the general working of the body, especially rehabilitation after injury, or post-operation.

Who may be helped by a Reflexology treatment?

Most people may benefit from a reflexology treatment and there is no minimum or maximum age limit. A course of treatment varies according to how acute or chronic the condition is, the number of sessions and their frequency depend on the patient's health and response.

Conditions such as the following may all be helped by reflexology:

  • Nervous and Physical tension including bruxism and plantar fasciitis

  • Skin problems

  • Mental health issues

  • Thyroid disorders

  • Hormonal imbalances

  • Sleep disorders

  • Stress-related digestive disorders

  • Hormonal disorders

Reflexology is a safe approach to healing the body that relies entirely on the skill of the practitioner and the healing qualities of the patient. It is a natural method for enhancing physical health and emotional well-being that is part of good preventative health care. In short, a deeply relaxing therapy which may boost your immune system and stimulate all your internal organs, leaving you energised and refreshed.
